With a career that spans multiple decades and explores multiple genres, if anyone in cinematic history deserves to be called "prolific," it's Sir Ridley Scott. In the span of ten years, he unleashed Alien, Blade Runner, and Legend, all of which have become veritable classics in the genres of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Those three movies are enough to let a filmmaker rest on their laurels, but he didn't stop there, as he continued to deliver one classic after another with titles like Thelma & Louise, G.I. Jane, and Gladiator. Despite the truly iconic resume, he somehow has never scored himself an Oscar for Best Director.
