This past April, we learned that a film based on the hugely popular Battlefield video game franchise was in the works, with Mission: Impossible filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie attached to write and direct. A series of first-person shooters, the Battlefield games have been running since 2002, and Battlefield 6 was the best-selling game of 2025 in the United States. Naturally, multiple studios were interested in the movie adaptation, especially with Michael B. Jordan on board as a producer. Soon, there was a bidding war on between Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony, Amazon MGM Studios, and Universal.
