Babygirl has Nicole Kidman exploring her submissive kink fantasies in a two-hour orgasm fest that flips the script on Fifty Shades of Grey's erotic themes. Dutch writer/director Halina Reijn changes the power dynamics with a wealthy female CEO falling hard for a hunky stud male intern who likes to hold the leash. Babygirl succeeds when it empowers the protagonist to find the sexual satisfaction she's desperately longed for after a lifetime of pretending to be "normal." It dramatically overreaches with a supporting ensemble that exists just to promote a feminist workplace ideology. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that agenda, but the character dynamics are unrealistic and forced.
