While the 1980s were notable for their outlandish projects, the '90s would prove to be a turning point for comedy movies. With indie filmmakers coming out of the woodwork and studios paying a pretty penny to adapt various Saturday Night Live sketches, it became clear the industry was looking at comedic actors more favorably than they had in previous years.
